Product Description
The Coleman Tent Power System With Fan provides a convenient light and a powerful ventilating fan in one handy unit. Running on a battery pack of 8 D-cell batteries, the Tent Power System comes with a remote control, so you can change settings without getting out of your sleeping bag. By itself, the light will run for 30-35 hours on a set of batteries; the fan will operate on the High setting for 10-15 hours, and with the light and fan together (on High) you'll get 7-12 hours of power. The Tent Power System comes with a heavy-duty magnet and clips for attaching easily to your tent.

I assume anyone reading this or thinking of purchasing has camped in the heat before and experienced what it's like waking up inside of an easy bake oven. I purchased this item for Bonnaroo 2010 to hopefully make 4 days living in 90+ degree temperatures somewhat bearable. I had hoped to delay the inevitable of waking up at the crack of dawn and getting another hour or so of much needed sleep. There would be no such luck as the fan blade assembly came off of the shaft after just an hour of use!! I reattached the blade assembly and as you can imagine within a few minutes it was off the shaft again. The assembly is plastic with foam fan blades, light enough to maintain longer battery life but not designed for longevity. A simple grub screw and a flat spot filed on the shaft would have easily corrected this problem.I imagine most will be sent back and they'll be available on discount sites in the near future. Save your money and look for a solution elsewhere.

After reading the first two reviews I was skeptical about this product. I did more research and was surprised to find that no one else makes a remote control light/fan. So I decided I would give this product a try. When I received this fan/light I tried it out. Just like a previous review, the remote did not work. This was very disappointing. But I knew that Amazon has one of the best return policies around. Within a few minutes I had my return label and was ready to send it back. They even started processing my replacement before I even shipped out the defective one. So after about a week I received the new one and it works perfectly. I have not taken it camping yet, but I will bring some glue just in case the fan blade falls off like a previous review. I do not see this as a deal breaker rather just an annoyance. For those who camp in warm or hot climate like we do in Hawaii, this is almost a necessity. Fans help keep the tent cool during the day for that mid-morning nap and the light is so convenient during the night. This may be too much for some who feel like camping should be roughing it, but for myself I believe that just because we are camping doesn't mean we have to live so uncomfortable. Camping should be enjoyable. Overall I would recommend this product. Don't give up just because you get a defective one. The only reason why I did not give this product five stars is because the first one I got was defective and for the fact that I have not taken it camping yet. Other than that it looks good and has tested excellent. Also Amazon return policy has never failed me.

But the remote does not seem to be worth a damn. It blinks when I hit the button but nothing happens. When I press the button on the actual unit it seems fine. All this is said with only 20 minutes of total usage. I will update the review after this weekends campout. I hope to review it up.
